Garter Stitch Scarf Pattern and Video
The Garter Stitch Scarf has so many great qualities. The stitch is easy, pretty, won’t curl and looks the same on both sides. What more can you want. Well how about a pattern and a video.
I focused on all the things you guys were asking for in a scarf design and combined them into this simple loom knitting project. I really hope you guys like it as much as I do.
The Pattern: Garter Stitch Scarf
Supplies:
Loom: 24-Peg Small Loom. Used the Knifty Knitter in Sample

Hook: Any Loom Knitting Hook. Used the Knifty Knitter with a Grip
Notions: Crochet Hook to Weave in the ends.
Pattern Notes:

The Video:
It’s best to watch the video completely before you start the project. Very often people complain that the finished product does not look like the picture. This is due to not understanding one of the step in the pattern. If you watch the video from beginning to the end without even picking up the supplies I promise the end product will be exactly as you expected.

Denise: Your tutorials have been tremendously helpful in learning how to loom knit, so I chose the Garter Stitch Scarf to produce my first flat product. It worked out beautifully – until I got to the end.
The video directs users to knit the last row before binding off. Then it begins the bind off on the left without showing how to get there? Does this mean the last row — right to left — is knitted instead of purled?
Please tell me how to proceed. My project’s on hold until I hear from you.
Thank again for your fine work.
Evelyn Jutte
Evelyn you should end with a knit stitch row.
Thanks for responding, Denise, but just to be clear, I must complete a knit stitch row to the right, then do a knit stitch row to the left, then bind off??
Please confirm this is correct.
Thanks.
P.S. A YouTube fan asked the same question.
Yes – you can – the deal is that you should end with a row of knit stitch. This especially helps if you plan to add fringe – also it will match your cast-on.
Very interesting stich have to try this all I can do is the ewrap and want to learn more stiches.
Loved the video.

Love your videos! Very easy to learn from. I have had people ask me to sell them some of my knitting or advise me to have an etsybut wasn’t sure about copyright. Can you talk about that?
Wow Amanda – that is so funny that you would bring up this subject – because YES this comes up a lot – I hope to do a port and video on this subject within a few days. But in the meantime – you can make finished products from my patterns and sell them just not sell the pattern nor mass produce the item. Please give credit for the design back to Loomahat.com

I loved seeing a complete pattern so clear too. Great video for beginners and just a known stich used in a lot of patterns. Its a familar stich you often hear when reading patterns I noticed.

HAPPY AND BLESSED NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOU’RE FAMILY! THIS VIDEO IS EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS, WELL DONE. WHY THE FIGURE 8 STITCH ON LFT SIDE OF LOOM? I HAVEN’T ATTEMPTED THIS PROJECT YET BUT I LOOK FORWARD TO THE CHALLENGE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. COULD I USE CHUNKY YARN FOR THIS SCARF? THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO
Hi Sheila – no reason for the figure 8 – just like the stitch to be the right direction. You can slip that stitch or do a regular e-Wrap
Yep – You can use chunky. Will look beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents with us. I’ve learned o much this last year and all of it on Utube. I’m 73 and my grandchildren have all benefited from your gifts.
