If you have questions put them in the comment sections and I will answer some of them on Tuesdays. Not all questions will be answered, sorry I wish I could but I will choose those that are mostly asked across social media and this web-page.

Those that don’t follow me on YouTube or Facebook, I’m sorry that I didn’t do this post earlier. There is a new series for January and February called I’ll Tell You Tuesday. For the details watch the video above.

Please give us a table with the different cap sizes (how many inches) for different age groups on a general basis on a round knit loom.
    Thank you for your tutorials.

Hi Denise, I gust made a scarf using a round loom. My scarf’s edges turned/rolled. What did I do wrong?

    • Denise Canela February 20, 2019 at 8:53 pm

It happens sometimes when you use only one stitch – like the knit stitch – you can steam block the fabric to fix it: CLick HERE

i have a friend who is partially blind. is there a pattern/hoop you can suggest that she could use to help her keep her hands and mind busy? i’m thinking hats for a start but i think its all easy so i am not good at deciding what to show her. tks

    • Denise Canela January 24, 2019 at 1:52 pm

Hi Janice – I agree that a hat would be a great way to start. That is the first project I teach – always

    Hi Denise,

love watching your videos my question is when i make my hats what is the best stitch to use made a couple of adult hats and made one too big and the other too small made both on 36 peg looms should i go up to a 40 or 41 peg loom thanks

    • Denise Canela January 22, 2019 at 10:00 am

I almost exclusively use the Extra large loom (40-42 pegs) for adult hats. I suggest watching this video: Click HERE

  5. Kathy Fiorentino January 21, 2019 at 7:48 pm

Do you have a pattern for the loom to make a scarf with pockets? I found one for crocheting but do not know how to turn it into a project for the loom

    • Denise Canela January 24, 2019 at 1:53 pm

Hi Kathy thanks for asking – I don’t YET.

  6. Kathie Boettger January 21, 2019 at 11:52 am

hi denise. was wondering if you have a pattern for kids mittens about 4 to 6 years old. I am making caps for that age group and would like to make mittens that match. this is for a mitten tree this coming Christmas.
    thank you
    Kathie

    • Denise Canela January 21, 2019 at 9:24 pm

Hi Kathie – thanks for asking – not at the moment

  7. Kara Carson January 21, 2019 at 9:48 am

Do you have a pattern for the tiny red hat with pompom?

  8. Kathy fiorentino January 19, 2019 at 7:01 pm

    Thank you
I have no way to try that so I’ll just add fringe and see what it looks like

  9. Kathy January 18, 2019 at 11:35 am

I just finished a scarf on a lo g loom and when I bonded off I did something wrong because the end I binded off came out curved what did I do wrong and can I add fringe to hide the mistake

    • Denise Canela January 19, 2019 at 6:43 pm

Hard to say what you did wrong – you can try steam blocking the curved end and then just add fringe with a crochet hook.

  10. janice January 14, 2019 at 11:23 am

yes denise thats exactly the spot i meant. i tried doing a purl stitch on the row before i started the thumb hole and purl stitches on the row ends of the hole and then again when i increased. it did ‘sort of’ ‘kinda of’ worked but not for every glove i made. i have done 4 pair trying different ways to ‘thicken…reinforce’ the opening. just didnt quite do the trick. also maybe i should make the hole bigger so the yarn doesnt stretch so much. in reg crochet i would do a single crochet right into the middle of the stitch in the row below to give it some ‘tith…thickness’ if that makes sense.

next pair is on the loom and will try what i saw on the video.
    thanks!
    jan

Janice to make the thumb hole larger reduce the number of stitches when knitting flat and then increase when it’s time to knit again in the round.

I love watching your videos. I learn sooo much watching them. When doing a project, I will watch the video to make sure I’m doing it right; even several times. I enjoyed your first “tell you on Tuesday” and am sure I’ll learn a lot of good things. Thank You !!!!!

    • Denise Canela January 19, 2019 at 8:26 pm

Not that I know of, sorry

Hi Denise! How do you decide what cast on and cast off to use when making a pattern from scratch.

    • Denise Canela January 14, 2019 at 1:48 am

Hi – that one is on my schedule for Tuesday January 22 will air at 8:30 am EST – God willing. Watch it on YouTube or Facebook

  14. Bethany Rose January 13, 2019 at 5:42 pm

What an awesome idea for a new series! I have been loom-knitting off and on for the last six years, as finances and health allow. Since I am blind, I focus a great deal on descriptions of techniques, rather than on videos. I can usually figure out how to do something as I work with different parts of various articles, blog posts, etc. I just got a long loom set, and I can not figure out how to cast on in order to start a double-knit piece. Suggestions? And I also have some trouble understanding cast-on methods other than the e-wrap, but I really don’t like the feel of the loose loops at the beginning of projects where I don’t use brims. It is also easier to hold the knitting hook than it is most crochet hooks. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for accomplishing different cast-on methods, given this set of circumstances? BTW, I love your website and exploring new patterns!

    • Denise Canela January 13, 2019 at 6:57 pm

Thank YOU Bethany – I have been considering the cast-on methods as one of the topics – it does seem to be on the minds of many.

      • Wilda January 14, 2019 at 4:45 pm

Hi Denise. When I am casting on for a hat, I love the crochet cast on. I start with a slip knot on a peg, put my hook into the loop, yarn over draw up a loop and put it on the next peg to the right. I do it all around. When I get to the end, I go to the first peg that I put a slip loop on and start my e-wrapping. This cast on leaves a really neat edge. Hope this helps everyone.

Please could you do a tutorial on
    Color knitting on the loom
    Xoxo

    • Denise Canela January 13, 2019 at 6:59 pm

Thank you Maureen – just to make sure I understand, do you mean something like basic color change or more like Fair Isle

      • Mary K Hokanson January 13, 2019 at 9:24 pm

Dear Denise, thank u over and over for all u do to help us with the art of looming. I too would like to know more about changing colors —e.g. Fair Isle etc. and carrying yarn vertically and horizontally. Thank you for help. Mary

  16. Donna Flack January 13, 2019 at 4:47 pm

Denise, I don’t have a question but I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your posts and your lessons. You have taught me so much. Thank you, again.

    • Denise Canela January 13, 2019 at 6:55 pm

Thank YOU Donna !!! SOooooo much.

  17. Deborah J Brozanic January 13, 2019 at 4:33 pm

Hi Denise, where did you find those “handmade” tags that you sew on the brim of a hat. Thanks!

  18. Anonymous January 13, 2019 at 4:17 pm

Having trouble with the Paso stitch when it is used on more than one stitch. This is usually used as a decorative stitch as in the Dragon Stitch baby blanket. Need someone to show me visually. Love the look for older children who will not get little fingers caught.

    Thanks

    • Denise Canela January 13, 2019 at 6:42 pm

Hi – do you have a link so I can “see” the stitch. I’m not familiar with that one.

  19. Maria Zadnik January 13, 2019 at 3:49 pm

Can you do a you tube on comfort doll that turns in to a cupcake please. Thank you

  20. Jan January 13, 2019 at 3:40 pm

    Hi
Can you reinforce a thumb hole when loom knitting fingerless gloves? I don’t like the ‘strings’ showing from the stitches and it looks weak.

    Thank you
    Jan

    • Denise Canela January 13, 2019 at 6:41 pm

Wow – that is a great question which actually works with button holes as well. In the meantime I would suggest watching the video for the pencil case holder where I believe I show how – let me know if I am wrong and I will cover this question: Click HERE
