Slouchy Hat with Stripes

This slouchy hat with lots of colored stripes adds a tropical flavor to the average beanie. It has plenty of eyelets throughout the knitting for a nice breezy cover that works well in winter or spring.

The loom knit pattern is free on the website. Because you change colors several times it’s a great opportunity to use up some left over yarn. Give it a try then send me some pictures.

The Pattern: Slouchy Hat with Stripes

Note: I did the color change when I reached the Eyelet Stitch

Stitches: Uwrap Knit, Purl, Eyelet

 

Cast -on: eWrap Cast on

 

Border:

Row 1 -12 Single Rib Stitch

 

The Hat:

Rows 13-15 Purl Stitch (3 rounds)

Row 16 Eyelet Stitch

Rows 17- 20 Purl Stitch (4 rounds)

Row 21 Eyelet Stitch

Rows 22 – 26 Purl Stitch  (5 rounds)

Row 27 Eyelet Stitch

Rows 28 – 33 Purl Stitch  (6 rounds)

Row 34 Eyelet Stitch

Rows 35 – 41 Purl Stitch  (7 rounds)

Row 42 Eyelet Stitch

Rows 43 – 50 Purl Stitch  (8 rounds)

Row 51 Eyelet Stitch

Rows 52 – 61 Purl Stitch  (9 rounds)

 

Cast-off: Decreased Crown – Bind-off

 

Rows 62 – 64  Knit 2, Purl 2

Take the working yarn and go around the loom twice – Cut yarn

Feed the yarn through the knit stitches and put the working yarn behind the purl stitches.

Remove the knit stitches off the loom. Pull the working yarn slightly.

Feed the yarn through the Purl stitches and put the working yarn behind the empty peg.

Remove the purl stitches off the loom.

Pull the working yarn tightly.

Now you can weave in the ends and Tighten the Loose Loops
