I wanted one page to list all my loom knit stitches. A place that I could update regularly like I do my Video page. Well here it is. You can bookmark it and come back once a month. God willing a new little square with a link to a free stitch pattern with a video tutorial will be added every time you visit,
Feel free to make suggestions and requests. I can’t promise that I will be able to accommodate you right away because sometimes I am following a project calendar or I already have a few post and videos that are done. If you know me, you know that I’m a stitch hog so if you introduce me to a stitch I will get to it at some point that’s for sure.

My Looms
I’m always asked about the looms I use on most of my Loom Knit Stitches video. I have 3 looms that I use almost exclusively for my stitch patterns.
Below I give you links to help you find them on-line with Amazon but check with your local craft store to see if they’re available and if they take competitor coupons and check eBay for some really crazy deals.

Again, the list is in alphabetical order and the word, “The” does not count. Click the links or the square with the picture of the stitch you want to learn. You have the option of the pattern and video or just the video if one is available.
When a video is available, please watch the video from beginning to end before attempting the pattern, I promise this will make a HUGE difference. You will feel a lot more confident that you are able to tackle the task once you know that it’s doable.

hi Denise, I have only been looming for a couple of months. A friend wants me to loom a hat for him. I have a 41 peg loom, which measures out to head circumference of 21 inches. He needs a X- extra, large hat that would fit head circumference of 25 inches. He says he do not want to squeeze a hat on his head because the air will get through the holes… I am not sure how to get another 2 inches or so out of my 41 peg loom… do you have any suggestions?

I just recently started loom knitting and I’m already obsessed! I have made two scarves and two baby hats. I’m currently working on a scarf and I am getting some curling on the edges. Any advice on how to reduce or eliminate this problem? The first scarf was a flat panel and I thought the curling was because of the type of yarn I used. The second one was a tube so I didn’t have that issue. Just so you know I’m working with two strands of yarn. Thank you sooo much for your videos. They are by far the best! I love all the details and repeating of steps. XOXO
I have just started looming and made my first hat watching your video. turned out very good. Tried to read few other designs online. I was very much intrigued by Sonia Cataquet’s brown shawlette . I searched for the lacy design she has used and found the following much similar pattern. http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/lace/vintagefineknittedlace.htm . Although the steps mentioned are for needles , I just wanted to know if it is possible to do the same through round loom. Can you also put up a post about K2TOG, YO , YO twice and other confusing terms used in looming world! Thank you so much.

Intermediate loom knitter here… Wondering if you have seen/know of any patterns or stitch guides for a star-stitch on a round loom. I’m adept at it with knitting needles doing a flat panel, but just can’t get it together when it comes to the loom. Am I not going to get small, closely spaced stars or am I just looking in all the wrong places? Any help would be appreciated. ✌
Also… For reference, I’m trying to make it in the round for a beenie. ????
Hi Denise, I left a post on your facebook page for you… I’m in a real quandary… I promised a very good friend of mine that I would try to knit him a ‘Buddha hat’…(I can’t post a picture, just google ‘knitted Buddha hat) but basically, it looks like a popcorn hat, with an extra dome on top and a pair of long flap-ears on either side… I’m having real difficulty understanding a simple popcorn stitch and wonder in fact if it would be the best stitch to use. I’ve come across a raspberry or trinity stitch, but don’t know if that can be adapted to a loom? Couple that with the fact that my friend’s head is B-I-G! Wow – I love it ! Tuteate has a cool technique – I would just suggest 5 repeats instead of three. Try it on a tiny hat first. Your other option could be the Double moss. Let me know how it goes – I might consider a version of this – VERY CUTE !

Thank you for your YouTube videos. It made looming a lot easier for me. I wanted to know if you could show how to loom a fadora hat and different stitches for the fingerless gloves? Also I notice that when you do the other stitches they are flat, could you please show an example of the same stitches like the Celtic knot in a hat or a slipper?

I Angela – I had never heard of a Fadora hat until your comment – GoodKnitKisses has one very similar but for kids – THIS might help some. As for the diffirent stitches on the gloves – you can substitute any rib stitch for the one in the basic pattern. I will put links below. About the celtic stitch on a hat – there is one on the post.

I want to make the colorful hat in the figure 8 video. Not the one with the yellow brim. The one is just the figure 8 stich and looks like it doesn’t have a brim. How do I get started?

I asked a question through your Contact Us link but haven’t known where to look for the response, so I will ask again. I seem to have a tightness to my loom knitting. My four rows do not make 1″ like you say they should. Mine are much tighter and I need about 7 rows to make it. I have even tried putting the loom on a lap desk in front of me instead of holding the loom itself on my lap. Do you have some tips for how to not have so much tension on the yarn? Thank you.

Barb, I use the word approximate a lot in the tension I come up with is different from the readers. Now the fact that it takes you almost twice the amount is really odd. Hard to make any suggestions. Unless I can “see” you knitting I can’t say what you need to change. What version of the knit stitch are you using. The four rows per inch is for the e-Wrap version of the knit stitch on a large gauge loom.
I have been using the u-wrap stitch lately. Let me experiment with the e-wrap and measure. I know you recommend making a sample swatch, but I don’t have much patience for doing that and I want to always jump right in. So let me practice a bit of patience and make some samples. I am enjoying learning to loom knit but want to be doing it correctly. My round looms are from Michaels, so that is large gauge, i believe.
Also, I was glad to see you go on camera yourself, We have been watching your hands but it is nice to see a pretty face to go with those hands. Barb

i need to thank you for explaining the stitches in a way i can understand. i have watched hours and hours to figure out how to do the different stitches.i am loving the looms even more now that i know some different stitches that i can make each item i knit to be a fun and different project and as individual as the person i am making them for

Hi Kathy, I like the adjustable hat loom a lot but if you just started this is NOT the best loom to get. Better to start with a basic 4 piece set. Click HERE
Hello! PLEASE help. I am working on a figure 8 stitch blanket for my grandson on the S loom and I lost my row count. I am making a Paw Patrol blanket with lots of bright colors and I was counting my rows so they would be even rows of color. I have sections of even solid color then smaller mixed color sections between the solid colors. Could somebody Please tell me how many rows of figure 8 are in a inch. I’m measuring about 7 inches in the solid colors and 2 1/2 inches in mixed colors. I think I did 20 rows in the color but not positive and maybe 8 in the mixed but like I said not positive. Lynn – I suggest making a swatch. Its the only way to get an exact count for your loom and yarn. Knit a few rows – measure as you go.

Your blog is so wonderful! I am would like to use the double basket stitch with cotton yarn to make a table runner. It appeared to me that the bottom edge will lay flat. Is that correct? Or should I make a bottom edge of garter stitch?
Jan, sorry about the delay in responding. I’ve been ill and way behind on comments. Yes this stitch is really good about not curling. It does however have curving edges on the sides because of the ribbing nature of the stitch. You can always try steam blocking in order to better shape the fabric.

My question is this: I once saw in one of your videos (can’t recall which) that you used a thinner yarn (a 4 I believe) to make a bulky yarn. I have a great 4 yarn that I want to make a hat from but I need a 5. In the video it looked like you were double strand knitting…how??

Hi! I’m trying to find instructions for an awareness ribbon. I’m making a earwarmer headband and the receiver would like a Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon either included in the band or applied after its finished. The problem is I cannot find a pattern for it inclouded in the hat/earwarmer/stitch patterns. Also, I haven’t been able to find a separate pattern for a flower loom (or whatever) for a separate ribbon that could be applied to the headband.
I’m a newbie so I’m not sure how to do it on my own. Is there a way you could help me figure something out that doesn’t include me actually using knitting needles?
I have four sized even numbered round looms, I have four long looms, and I have a Dritz brand flower loom kit.

In my opinion, Denise really is the very best at teaching nicest looking loom knitting. Because of some of her special techniques, I have “messed” around with my looms a little and am coming up with a few ways to incorporate a few little designs into my project. One just happens to be an awareness ribbon much like you are asking for, except that mine is not pink for Breast Cancer awareness. It’s actually a darker blue color for Transverse Myelitis(TM) awareness. I’ve been trying to explain how to do it to a friend, but she suggested I make a video of it. If you email me and let me know how large you would like your ribbon to be I can create written instructions (essentially a pattern) at no cost to you. Otherwise, I guess I’ll have to take my friends advise and create a video. Have a great day.

I have a problem with my stitching. For some reason, my loops are too tight and I can’t pull them over the page. I wrap the yarn over the peg loosely, I’ve even had to undo several rows to loosen them up. But, then I start again and they are way too tight.. HELP~-~
BTW Love your videos, so helpful. I just don’t get the whole knitting language:)
Karen – its just as important how you place the yarn on the peg as how you pull the loop over the yarn. Not sure if you have watched the video on this post – but just in case – Click HERE

I tried standard knitting a few years ago and was completely overwhelmed by the complexity of stitches and the terms. I decided to stop because I just couldn’t find anything to really help me get started as a beginner. I recently found out about loom knitting and decided to give it a try. I love it! So much easier than traditional knitting!

Hi there. I have just been bitten by Looming, and already a granny, imagine the speed of the hands and brains converting everything. Nevertheless, I have bought EVERYTHING of the Looms, and packs of wool. I also started knitting and crochet (done when child and mommy trying her best to show me how!!!!!!! she must have wanted to scream her head off. LOL Know Loom knitting is the first on the list to be learned.
The one thing I really would like to mention is the patterns that are only on video or you tube. Firstly my mind won’t take everything in to remember afterwords and secondly as pensioner I cannot use the internet daily and have only a small “Bundle” account. I’m converting a needle knit stitch right now along with 3 other projects. Hoping to have one in by the end of the month.
Hi, thank you so much. I had a back operation in April, so I knew most will be 6 weeks in bed. Just before April I found you on the net, and went to the wool shop and bough the looms and wool. So I had something to do while in bed. It really helped my mind and body to start something new.
Just one question so far, can the videos be downloaded? If I have some problems in the pattern, I would like to go to the video, but that means going into my internet every time. Any help will be appreciated as I am not clued up with laptop and internet, as I am 62 and a granny. LOL
