Three Step Stitch Slouchy Hat

Three Step Stitch Slouchy Hat

Three step stitch slouchy

I really like the Three Step Stitch pattern. Designing a netted slouch for the yellow 41-peg extra-large loom was something I had wanted to do since I learned the stitch. Now here it is in a cool summer blue cotton. Easy enough for an advanced beginner.

I will take you step by step on the video so even if you’re not familiar with the stitch. Don’t Worry – Be Happy ! I got you covered.

The Pattern

Loom:  Any Extra-Large Round Loom. I used the Knifty Knitter 41-peg loom.

Yarn: 100 yards of Any Worsted Weight. I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Yarn in Blue Icicle

Hook: Any Loom Knitting Hook. I used the Knifty Knitter with a Rubber Grip

Needle: Any Yarn Needle

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Stitches: U-wrap , Three Step Stitch

How do you knit and purl stitches

  3. Jo September 5, 2015 at 11:28 pm

The video on the Three Step Slouchy Beanie Hat on any large loom does not address the fact that the # of pegs is uneven (41). So when you say 8 rows of k1, P2 what goes on peg 41? If you start with a knit stitch the go t purl 2 around the loom you’re back to a knit stitch on peg 40. Please explain. I really love the hat and was going to make one for me then two more for my niece and great niece but this is stopping me.
    Sincerely, Jo

      Answer: K1, P2 until the last 2, then K1, P1
Thanks for the question. I will correct the pattern. 🙂

Thank you Denise for such a quick response! I actually thought of that when I woke up this morning but did not want to mess up the pattern. Your work is absolutely beautiful! Whenever I need to try to do anything I look for your work first as I just think you are the best! I don’t know how long you have been loom knitting but your work just looks so neat and professional that I can only hope one day for my thinks to look half as good. I am new at this and really love it but I want my things to look nice. I basically just make things for gifts to others. Thanks again, Jo

I started loom knitting in 2012. I have mild ADD and focus is a problem for me. This is the only way I can knit. Glad you like my work. I so appreciate you’ve taken from your precious time to leave me this comment. THANK YOU Jo ! 🙂

I tried following the video for the Three Step Stitch Slouchy Hat on a 41 peg large loom. The video is not clear about k1 purl 2 because peg 40 is a k1 so what goes on peg 41? I really love that hat hat and want to make one but the instructions are not clear on that point. Waiting for your response.
    Sincerely, Jo Jenkins
