Loom Knit Brimless Hat Pattern Video
I love an easy brimless hat with a nice, neat edge as much as the next guy. It’s even better when I can make it work using my large gauge loom because I can finish faster. Here is a pattern with a stretchy stitch that bounces back and fits almost anyone. Works for both men and women so it makes it a great project for charities. The video is only 12 minutes from beginning to end so it doesn’t require a lot a time to watch it.
It’s called the Bottom Up hat because you knit the crown first which is different from the average loom knit hat pattern. You usually knit the brim first and end the project with the top of the hat. I guess you can also call it an upside down hat.
SUPPLIES for the Bottom Up Hat
LOOM: Any Extra Large Loom. I used the 41-peg Knifty Knitter
HOOK: Any Loom Hook. I used the KB Ergonomic
YARN: 100 yards of Chunky weight yarn. I used Bernet Softee Chunky
STITCH MARKERS: Optional. I use stitch markers to help with the rib stitch part of the pattern.
NEEDLE: Yarn Needle. I use large eye blunt medal needles
BUTTONS:Optional – and a decorative button

Love this hat, and all your projects! I learn best from videos, so I always gravitate to all your videos. Thank you!!!
Thank YOU for the thank you Georgette !
Beautiful, as usual! Not to be a nit-picker, but shouldn’t this be called a “top-down” hat since you are starting with a drawstring cast-on which becomes the part that is the top of the hat?
Yes, I totally understand where you’re coming from – but the idea is that we begin most loom knit hat with the brim – this pattern ends with the brim
I’m assuming this is a slouchy hat. I don’t usually make my hats 13 inches long. I love it though and making it now.
Yes now I see it is a slouchy?
