Loom Knit a Chunky Easy Rib Stitch Hat
This is an easy rib stitch hat pattern. The bulky yarn makes it perfect to wear in the winter season. The plus side of the design is that it will work will for any member of the family. Even those that are hard to please. You can wear it like a brimless slouchy or a beanie with a brim.

Skill Level: Beginner
Size: Approximately 11 inches (unfolded brim) length and 20 inches in circumference
Stitches: Knit, Purl
Loom: Extra Large Loom. I used the 41-peg Yellow Knifty Knitter
Yarn: 81 Yards of Bulky #6 Weight. I used Hometown USA in Napa Valley Pinot
Tools / Notions: Loom Hook, Yarn Needle, S-Markers, Scissors, Tag, Pom Pom

Your video is faultless: I used a 36 peg loom as I wanted a relatively tight hat (and I don’t have much hair to fit underneath) and doubled up some chunky yarn (UK equivalent of bulky) and I’ve produced a really nice hat for winter running. I always thought knitting was a black art but the loom makes it easy! Keep up the good work!

Can a smaller loom be used for a toddler?
Hi Renee – you can use the 36 but the rib stitch expands and contracts I would just reduce the number of rows.
Help! I am trying to knit on scar. Directions say e wrap cast 15 stitches – I went to the right 15 and wrapped back to beginning and cast off – then it says Row 1 is K3, P3, K3, P3, K3. So I go to the Right and do row 1 – then Row to is P3, k3, p3 , k3, p3. The opposite – so I turn back to the left and do that. Is that wrong? Because it is not making the pattern. I am assuming because I’m not going all the way around that maybe the rows have different meaning when just using 1/2 loom? Can you help?

Will this pattern work with regular worsted weight #4 yarn? I’m trying to use up my stash. lol
You can but you would need to knit with 2 strands as 1
