Review of Knock-off Knifty Knitter on eBay

Knifty Knitter on eBay

Knifty Knitter on eBayIs it a good idea to buy a knock-off Knifty Knitter on eBay?  Yes ! The originals are just way, way, so expensive. You can sometimes be surprised by a good deal on a used set.

But never-the-less there are still some incredible deals that can be found. The price game is constantly changing which is why I want to give you a choice that is not a fluke but instead a constant. A “type” or “alternative” that I have seen for the last few years and have now tested that I think is well worth considering.

Like always, when I bring you a great eBay deal I want to remind you that I am NOT the seller. If you have a question about the product you must contact the seller directly.

Now let me tell you and show you a great deal on an alternative to the Knifty Knitter on eBay.

Your Search Method is Key

Knifty Knitter on eBayLet’s start with your key word search. What do you write in the eBay search box in order to find what you’re actually looking for?

For The Original Knifty Knitter on eBay

If you’re looking for the Original Knifty Knitter made in China and distributed by Provo Craft you may want to search for those exact words, ( Provo Craft Knifty Knitter ) and look for sellers in North America.  This will help you avoid generic looms that look like the Knifty Knitter and even have those words in the product description but are actually knock-offs. You know, like the fake designer purses that almost look like the real thing but are not.

For The Generic (knock-off) Knifty Knitter on eBay

Knifty knitter on eBay

So I’m not a fan of buying fakes or knock-offs anything for so many reasons it’s not even funny. But In this particularly unique case I don’t have a problem with the knock-offs because the product is out of circulation through the original distributor. Provo Craft no longer sells the Knifty Knitter and so the seller of the alternative loom is not taking their sells.

If you are comfortable with buying a product that looks and feels almost identical to the original for a substantially lower price then let me give you your key word search. It would be,( Classical Knitter Knifty Knitting Knit Loom ) and look for worldwide sellers. Yes, this does mean that you will have to wait a VERY long time to get your purchase but for me it was worth the extra wait. So shop early.

I know that some of you think there is no difference in the four words above and these new five words. But if you’re not a believer just click the word links and you will see how different the results and the prices will be. Then I ask you to come back next month and check them out again. You will be shocked by the fluctuation in price with one search as opposed to the other.

Three weeks before I published this post –  I PAID $3.85 WITH FREE SHIPPING for my 24-peg loom. I had the option of the 31-peg for 4.65, the 36-peg for $5.65 and the 41-peg was 6.65.

 Pros and Cons of the Knock-offs

* Package Includes: Carry Bag, 1 loom, hook, needle, instructions

* Same colors for peg count: Example 24-peg loom is blue

* Plastic is more light-weight

* Pegs are glued-in

* Pegs are thinner

* Peg tips are smaller

A Truly Great Alternative – REALLY

4.5 stars

I can almost guarantee that other then say a garage sale your best bet on getting a really good price is to buy your Knifty Knitter on eBay. To get a crazy, crazy, out of this world good price buy a generic knock-off of the Knifty Knitter on eBay.These two are almost identical. I didn’t do 5 stars only because there is a tiny difference in the quality of the plastic and the size of the peg tips. I actually prefer the knock-off loom peg design. Also the pegs do not come off the base. For some of you this is good news. Now you don’t have to glue the base.

There are many Great alternatives to the original Knifty Knitter, such as the looms made by Darice and the Michael’s store brand, Loops and Threads. If you have followed me for a while you know that I don’t like Boye Looms. And thank God I bought mine with a 50% coupon from Joann’s. I know that they work great for some folks, if they work for you don’t send me nasty emails – we just have a difference of opinion. You might hate the color yellow which would make us even . Now back to the Knifty Knitter on eBay.

The Best Thing is : YOU CAN BUY EACH SIZE SEPARATELY

The fact that you can buy just one loom at a time is awesome. Other then this knock-off I believe your option is limited to the Boye brand of looms. I will repeat that I am NOT a fan of this brand. Poor quality and bad design.  This knock Knifty Knitter on eBay is actually a way better product for about 1/2 the price.

    I have never been able to knit or crochet. I’ve had lots of people try to teach me. I began loom knitting about a year ago and your website and videos have been a very effective teacher. Last Christmas all my family members received hats, scarfs and slippers for this Christmas I have been knitting comfort dolls for OCC. It has been so much fun designing each doll. My daughter keeps telling me that they won’t go to the same place so it does not matter if they look alike. I know that but I want each child receiving one to have something made just for them with lots of love. l would have sent you a photo but could not figure out how. Thanks for sharing how to loom knit. I have found a ministry I can effectively participate in while being home bound.

    Yes, I would be willing to try a knock-off since the expensive alternatives like Cindiwood are way out of my budget. Actually, I could buy them, but then I wouldn’t be able to buy yarn to use with them. ?;o) Thank you for the giveaway!

    • Denise Canela June 29, 2015 at 8:20 pm

      Thanks for the Thank you Margaret – Good luck with the giveaway !
