Loom Knit the Loopy Stitch

Loom Knitting the Loopy Stitch Pattern

Loopy stitch on a knitting loom

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I have been playing around with the Loopy Stitch pattern for a while now. I finally figured it out and before I post the Loopy Fingerless Gloves pattern I want you all to know how to do this really cool stitch. Watch the video all the way to the end for a preview of the gloves.  I also like it for socks, scarves, boot cuffs, a little sheep and a lot of other stuff. I think it can make any project a bit more fun.

The stitch looks more complicated than it really is. One thing that I do want to tell you in advance is that it is time-consuming. Personally, I think it’s worth the extra time.

Basic Information

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Stitches: Knit, Optional: Purl

Loom: Any Loom. I used a large gauge loom but this will work with any gauge.

Yarn: Used Super Bulky for the featured sample.  Substitute 2 – 3 strands of worsted as 1

Tools and Notions: Loom Hook, Yarn Needle

    Denise,
Just Finished all the stitches for the origami market bag. I did the cast on 75 mock crochet stitches and the last knit stitch. I came up much too short to actually make the bag. The yarn I used was the Bernat maker home Dec which is a stretchy knit, could this have affected the pattern?
I realt like the pattern and the bag so if I can figure out what I did wrong I will do it again.
Thanks so much for all your videos, patterns, and instruction.
    Pat

Hi Patricia – when you first knit a pattern it is a good idea to use the yarn that the designer used. Because I haven’t test the pattern with the yarn you used I can’t say but that is possible. Sorry

    Denise,
I hope you and your family have a Happy Holiday. We are really enjoying your patterns.

Would you please share your Sambucha (spelling?) with me? I also need to get your bottle covering patterns.

    Many Thanks,
    Bobbie Finley

Dear Denise–Love the Loops! Can’t wait to try them. And please–those fingerless gloves with the loops at the wrist look great. I’m into making the second pair of your basic fingerless right now, and I want a loopy pair for myself! Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

Is there any patterns for potholders?

I love these, they are adorable! The loopy pattern reminds me of the new loopy yarn I have seen at Michael’s. Have you worked with that yarn yet?

    • Denise Canela December 31, 2018 at 7:59 pm

I have not – but I had that it mind when I tried this pattern. I find the yarn a bit expensive
