Yarn Giveaway January 2014
The Yarn Giveaway January 2014 is…
.
Vanna’s Choice in 2 winter shades is this month’s Yarn Giveaway. I have bought this yarn so many times I can’t count. It is one of my personal favorites. It’s very affordable but has a really high-end look. Soft and warm without being scratchy. The colors are amazingly rich and you can’t go wrong with the safe worsted weight. Works with just about any project. I believe this is a great product with which to begin our Year of Yarn Giveaways.

What is the best hat pattern for a man’s hat?
Hi Michelle, wow that’s not an answerable question. Best, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Are we talking easiest to make, most likely to be liked by your significant other, the best hat for the cold weather, well don’t want to get carried away. I do want to answer your question just need your definition of BEST.

Haven’t tried looming yet, and only taught myself to crochet a couple of years ago. Nonetheless I’ve made some cool gifts for family, which has saved me money, and I find it very therapeutic.
Hey Lynn, you have to try Loom Knitting – way easier then any other yarn craft ! I’m a little partial. :). As far as health benefits here is a little snippet from Wikipedia: Health benefits
Studies have shown that knitting, along with other forms of needlework, provide several significant health benefits. These studies have found the rhythmic and repetitive action of knitting can “help prevent and manage stress, pain and depression, which in turn strengthens the body’s immune system”,as well as create a relaxation response in the body which can decrease blood pressure, heart rate, help prevent illness, and have a calming effect. Pain specialists have also found that the brain chemistry is changed when one knits, resulting in an increase in “feel good” hormones (i.e. serotonin and dopamine), and a decrease in stress hormones
Lots of great ideas on this site!

I just started looming last night, actually. Omgoodness it’s so much fun and very addicting. I loomed my first preemie beanie and I was so excited about how easy it was that my husband and I decided that we want to start looming preemie/newborn babies for CHOC hospital in Orange County because our son was in their NICU two years ago. We want to give back. Thank you, Loomahat.com (and Denise) for teaching me and encouraging me to give back!!!!! 🙂
Thank YOU – Thank YOU Amy, you have no idea what your kind words mean to me. I appreciate them Big Time. Was really down today – you’ve given me a booster shot girlfriend. Have lots of fun making those tiny hats they’re really needed the NICU is a cold place.

I just started using the knitting loom a little before this last Christmas and I have made over 15 hats already. I’m really looking forward to getting some straight looms so that I am able to make some nifty scarfs. 🙂
Natte, you can make lots of nice scarves with a round loom too. Go to the 100 Round Loom Free Patterns. There are a few scarves in that post.
Ive been looming for a few months now and everyday I have become more and more addicted to it. I have just recently realized that there are these amazing blog sites like yourselves which are so educating for a beginner like myself and I’d like you to know how much I appreciate all of your blogs.
Thank you
I love loom knitting and really enjoy your site, truely amazed at what can be done with a loom.
I had to give my hands a few days of rest because when I posted a pic of the first hat I loom knitted on Facebook about the last part of November, I ended up with 8 requests to buy a hat in time for Christmas. But am gently being coached back to my loom, as I received my yarn order from JOANN online and I cannot resist the colors, oh sorry hands, we are going back to looming, grin.
I was having such a hard time with making hats until I found this site. Love all the information you have. Thanks
