The Purple Loom Replacement by CinDwood
I have always loved the purple loom by Knifty Knitter. Of all the circular hat looms it was the perfect one. It was hard to find when Provo Craft was actually distributing the Knifty Knitter product. I must admit that finding it now is close to impossible. It pains me to the core considering the great design.
Thank God that CinDwood has created a replacement. I am in love. Let’s look at just three of the many reasons and give you a chance to win your own.
Let Me Tell You Why the Purple Loom
It is the right size. larger than the green 36-peg loom yet smaller than the 41-peg. The latter may sound crazy but peg count does not determine actual loom size. That is determined by the size of the base.
It is the right peg count. A loom with to many pegs makes a project take to long to complete and in my case can be very frustrating. With this loom you get a tighter stitch than with the 41-peg and still finish your hat within a reasonable amount of time.
The right gauge. Gauge in loom knitting is determined by the space between 2 pegs. The smaller the space the more stitches fit within say 1 inch of fabric. The larger the space the fewer number of stitches and that causes your fabric to be looser. In this case the gauge is smaller then any other Knifty Knitter loom.
I forgive the loom for being purple and not yellow, but such is life. Nothing is perfect.
Final Notes:
This loom can easily replace the Large 36-peg and Extra Large 41-peg on any pattern. You may find that you need to adjust the last stitches by adding or subtracting the last few.

Love both CinDWood looms and the purple loom. Both are some my most used looms; they are easy to carry with you in a bag and a multitude of things can be made with them.
Thank you, Denise! I truly enjoy Loom Knitting and your videos and post are the greatest learning tools!!
Thank you for all you do!
I love the knitting looms. I started a couple of months ago. I’m planning on making all of my Xmas gifts this year.
Awesome idea ! Start early .. 🙂

Welcome to the Family Melissa – loom knitting is Fun and Easy. Let me know if you have any questions
Hello,
This loom is a wonderful tool to have.
I like that there are more pegs for the size of the loom. Sometimes I have felt that my hats had too loose of a weave. The adjustable looms take forever to make a hat because there are so many pegs for the size of the loom. This seems to be a nice compromise.
I agree – but to avoid those loose loops here is a great technique: Click HERE
Thank you for offering a drawing. The purple loom does look versatile and I appreciate your reviews and most especially your how-to videos.
Thank you Tracy !
Hi Denise,
This looks like a wonderful give-a-way! I follow your site and instructions all the time! Thank you so much for all of your help! I actually just sent 20 hats to CinDWood for the Mongolia Project! I was admiring their looms and would very much like to try them. I donate locally to hospitals and shelters. This loom sounds very helpful!
Thank you for having this opportunity!
Sincerely, Connie
Connie – THANK YOU for donating to the project. Nothing is sweeter then to Love with your looms. BIG HUGS !!!!!!
The Purple Loom looks like a handy tool. I currently use the Knifty Knitter looms. Thank you for all the stitch ideas, instructions, and videos. They taught me how to use the circular loom so I could make snoods for my grand-dog, Chunk.
Oh my Gosh – Cindy that sounds way way way to cute. Would love to see a picture of Chunk with the snoods to share with my Facebook family. Would you be so kind and send me a pic to denise@loomahat.com
Looks like a great loom…and purple is my favorite color. 😉
I would love to try this loom. So far I only have KB Looms, and hope to try more. Thank you for all the wonderful things you do.
This sounds like an awesome loom, would be great for making hats for charities.
I’ve been wanting to learn to loom and stumbled upon your site and I’ve been watching all your videos. This is an excellent resource
Looks like an awesome Loom. Thanks for sponsoring the giveaway!
It is PERFECTION in size and gauge. It is the kind of loom you would tell people, if you can only afford one special CinDwood loom for the time being, especially for hats…this would be it!
Thank you so much for the information about the different kinds of looms and the pros and cons of each. I am a crocheted but stared to have interest in knitting and found the the Knifty Knitter is a lot easier to learn and faster than traditional knitting. The only down side is the large gauge. I would be interested in the Purple loom because of the small gauge. If I don’t win one I will consider buying one.
2xxx Wxxxx Rxxx
This looks like a good size for a couple of projects I want to do. I really hope I win!
This seems like it would be great to make hats for the homeless. I inherited a friend’s mother’s stash!
Would be great !
I bought a purple KK loom while they still could be found. I’d love to have a CinDwood purple loom. Then I could loom along with my granddaughter.
Sounds BEAUTIFUL !
This looks so useful, I’ve been looking to buy better quality looms with closer together pegs!
What a great size for a loom
I am really intrigued with the purple loom!! I really hope I win!! ?
Sure would love to receive a purple loom. Purple is my favorite color.
I am a small adult with a small head and thus the green loom fits me perfectly. Unfortunately both of my beautiful children took after dad and have rather large heads. The green loom is too small, the yellow too big. Methinks the purple will fit just right!
Thanks for a chance to win! I’ve been considering buying some of the looms to teach my Girl Scout troop but we are in a low income area. So all supplies are paid for by myself. I figure this way, if I win, I can try it out with the girls a little before investing. Thanks so much for the opportunity!
I would be positively tickled pink if I was chosen to receive this wondrous loom!
I have wanted a Cin-D loom but due to budget I couldn’t get one. Would love to win.
I desesperately need this loom. I am so frustrated with all the other brands and gauges: too large, too many, not enough….Grrrr
Come on! Momma needs a new loom! LoL
Keeping my fingers crossed!
The purple loom is so hard to find. Winning one would be great
I’ve been wanting to invest in some looms with a tighter gauge than what I currently have- this looks like it may fit the bill!
Would love it!!
I have been wanting to learn to loom and this looks like a great site to learn! Going to enter the giveaway as well!
I’ve got an extensive loom collection, but NOT the purple one! Please? heheheh
I would love this loom! Have heard such great things about cindwood looms.
I have heard of this loom! It’s rather the unicorn loom, as I have never seen one in real life! I am glad to hear that CinDWood has made a replacement!
Totally agree! This is the perfect, perfect hat loom! Just right. Not too big, not too small.
Large enough to still use with super bulky but small enough to get away with worsted weight yarn for certain projects. And, it is just perfect for bulky, no 5 yarns!
I agree with all of these reasons, and more. This is just THE hat loom to have!
Everyone needs one. Scratch that. Everyone needs SEVERAL! 🙂
This looks like a great loom to use! I will need to get one. ?
I’m excited and thankful to be a part of this community and part of this giveaway. Thanks ?
It would be awesome to use one
I came late to the party after Knifty Knitter looms stopped being produced, so I’ve always felt kind of left out, especially when swirly patterns call for the 41 peg loom since mine all have an even number of pegs and I have to adapt a bit. I would love to have the Cindwood version of the 48 peg loom since everything I’ve seen and heard about Cindwood looms is wonderful, and its in-between size seems just the ticket.. (What I really want, though, is one of their biggest S-looms so I can make a blanket big enough for our queen bed.) Thanks so much for the giveaway, Denise!
I can’t wait to try this loom! It looks great!
I’d love to own this Purple Loom!
I would love any CinDwood loom – but this one looks portable and versatile!
OMG inlove with the smaller gauge!
Thanks Denise for sharing this new product, I need one!
Thank you for the chance to win! I love your videos! I think the purple loom is awesome and I would like to win one!
This 48-peg purple loom looks like a perfect fit for the Farrow Stitch hat you posted a few months back. I tried looming on KK 41 peg loom and it looked way too big so I stopped. I ended up knitting on 36 peg and it was too small. The CinDWood gauge looks perfect for Farrow Stitch, so I hope I win 🙂 And thanks for a great video! You always do such a great job.
Cis, be forewarned about the Farrow Stitch on the 48 peg. I did mine on the KK 48 peg and the stitch didn’t show up as well because of the tighter gauge.
If you use a super bulky yarn, I’d recommend going ahead with the Farrow Stitch on the 41 peg – especially using the u-wrap (can’t remember what Denise used in the video but I used the u-wrap) – but if you use the 48 peg, I’d suggest using a bulky no 5 yarn so that the stitch pattern will show off a little better.
Hey Kristi – thanks for the heads-up
This looks like an amazing loom!
I just started loom knitting and really appreciate your site. I’ve been learning a lot from you. Thanks. I knit very tightly when using needles so this loom sounds like something I need to look into.
I love love love to loom knit, and I am always making some sort of a loom knitted project as a gift for a family member or a loved one! So having this loom would be a great help to me! Thank you for the wonderful blog post all about it!
Good luck to all who enter!
This looks awesome! Thank you for sharing this with us. I love that it’s a.smaller gauge.
great to know! are there patterns made specifically for this loom?
wonderful review
Any pattern for a 41 or 36 will work with this loom – here is one specifically for the purple loom: Click HERE
I’m new to knitting on the loom and I love your unbiased opinions. I don’t have access to much as I love in a small town but I will be on the hunt for something similar when I get to a big city!
Need one one these!
I really like using cindwood looms. The purple loom is a perfect size to use.
I have wanted a Cindwood loom for so long! Good luck everyone!
I would love this loom; Cindwood looms are awesome.
I have never tried the now infamous purple loom. I have one that is similar, but it has only 46 pegs as opposed to 48, which really throws of the symmetry of a double rib stitch brim! 48 is definitely the magic number.
I love looming hats, but it has been hard to find the right sized one as you said, most of the patterns I have use the 48 pegs that I love to make.
Cinwood to the rescue. I had no idea the difference in the hat gauge of these. I really had thought 48 pegs meant bigger.
A lot of people believe the same thing. Just remember that peg count does not equal loom size. Good luck !
I love the Purple KK, & I love CinDWood! This loom seems like a win, win.
Being new to looming I only saw this loom on other videos. I work some of your patterns on a 40 peg loom and some just don’t work. I’m seriously wanting this loom for the gage, peg count, and sturdy build. Wish I could have it with a smaller one. Just started today teaching my 6 year old granddaughter to loom. She is already looming rows and doing great with the e wrap. She is just frustrated by the holes and a smaller gage would help.
I would dearly love this loom! So hard to find the right size round loom and my AIO is always in use for other projects.
Thank you for letting us know that CinDwood is available now through Amazon. I live in Hawaii and haven’t been able to find the KK purple loom here at all. I would love to win and try it out. And if I don’t win, I know where to buy it now. I think you’re awesome! Love that you have both the loom knitting videos and the written pattern – makes it so much easier to understand/follow.
I just discovered loom knitting but I have had a hard time finding the “just right” size. I am anxious to try the purple loom because it sounds “just right.”
I never knew this loom existed! Seems like an answer to all my hat troubles 🙂
ti want to thank you denise for all your videos and the great work you do…i have arm and hand movement but not my fingers…paralyzed from chest down…your hats all sizes videos was my first watched and now i have something i can do besides net games and tv….and for that Thank You tight hugs
Thank you for the Thank you – I very much appreciate it. So happy my patterns and video have been helpful. 🙂
oops how do i change anonymous to cathy or mindy?
Hi Denise,
this is great news! I have always missed exactly this peg number as the others don’t fit my head 🙁
And I love the colorful pegs!
I would love a chance to try a CinDwood loom! I love my KK looms, but I’ve always wanted one with a smaller weave so not all of my projects have a loose weave. Thanks Denise!
I would really love to win this. Really want to try that loom, but I’m disabled and money is too tight for me to buy one.
This looks like a great loom. I’ve read a lot about it and thought they were not available anymore. I would love to win it.
Never owned the purple kk. Have seen several patterns using this loom have considered purchasing. Thanks for comparing it to the other kk looms.
I love my knifty knitter looms. I have shown people how to use them. I think the purple loom would be a great choice to use for hats and scarves. Thank you for letting everyone know this alternative is being produced in place of the purple loom.
thank you so much for this review. I have been wondering for so long what the big deal was about this elusive purple loom… now I know your review was perfect. Thanks so much for the taking the time to explain it and with the pictures which helped me a lot..
Would love a purple loom! Perfect size and gauge. Love my CinDwood looms!
This would be my very first CinDewood loom if I wins. I hope one day I can afford to purchase them…Thanks for the chance to Win this Purple Loom. Purple is my favorite color…
I have been looking for this loom! and of course you make me want it even more!
Evelyn – you are too funny – so needed a good giggle 🙂
Hello Denise,
Thank you for letting us know this loom is now avail. 🙂 The larger loom with an even number of pegs and tighter gauge is a great idea! Very exciting news…. Thank you for your kindness in offering this loom!
God bless you,
Karie
Karie- thank you for your kind words. It is totally and completely my pleasure for me to give away this beautiful loom. God has blessed me dearly and I thank you for sending more my way. A Bunch of Hugs to you my Sister
I have never heard of these and I am dying to try one!
I have always wanted the Purple hat loom, but haven’t been able to find one in my price range. It looks like it is made with the normal CinDWood quality. I really hope I win this one.
I am new to loom knitting and have seen so many patterns using the purple kniffty knitter loom. I would love to try the same kind of loom.
I have not heard of this loom, but it sounds like the perfect addition to my kk collection.
Looks like the perfect loom to learn on
I just ordered this loom. Can’t wait to try it!!..Now I’ll have to figure out which new project to start on it??
Here is a GREAT one by Joanne Brandt : Click HERE
I make and donate alot of loom made hats this loom would be a nice one for me to own.
I’ve never had a Purple Loom before and heard it was hard to get it. I hope to have one soon via CinDwood!
Nice loom, I would love to give it a try!
I could use this. I have a lot of yarn.
I would love to have this loom, I am on Cindy web site. I see all the beautiful things that everyone makes. It is so expensive with the shipping to Canada, I will keep on dreaming.
xxxxxxxx
I have never used the CinDwood loom, but I love love love the knifty knitter purple loom! I have 4 of them and I use them a lot! I work in activities at a long term care facility, so I do a lot of loom knitting classes with my residents! I would love to win the CinDwood purple loom……it would be the perfect size, and if it hold up…..I could end up taking my knifty knitter ones to the facility for the residents to use. When they quit making knifty knitter, I purchased 10 packages of the regular looms…..yellow, green, red and blue and that is what I use with the residents. Last year we made hats and donated them to homeless and also some little ones donated to the childrens hospital.
I would love to try it! The looms have let me continue to knit since my hands have become more difficult to use with inflammation.
It’s a great alternative to the original KK purple loom and well affordable as well!
I love the purple loom! Love the size & gauge.
Looks fantastic would love to win it.
Always wanted to check out CinDWood looms, thanks for the chance.
The purple loom is amazing. I was lucky enough to get one, but fear lending it out- even to close friends!!!
Thank you for the chance to win this loom.
Can’t wait, need this loom for hats!
the purple loom is one of my favorites for adult female hat
This looks like a great loom. I’d love to try it. Thanx for the chance! 🙂
I can’t wait to try this loom!
The video wouldn’t load for me to watch completely. Do you use 1 strand of worsted weight? And is that a sturdy fabric, or kind of airy?
Hi Barbara – it really depends on the stitch. I plan to have a pattern for the purple loom ready this month. It will be done with just 1 strand of yarn so you will be able to judge for yourself.
I really like the purple loom. I need to try it!
This loom looks perfect!
So glad CinDwood made us a replacement Purple Hat Loom, it is my favorite, can’t wait to try it.
Sounds like a great loom. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to win one!
The purple loom sounds terrific! I’d like the tighter gauge.
The purple loom will make a better fitting hat for my daughters and myself.
Thank you for a chance at winning the 48 peg cindwood loom! I don’t own any cindwood looms and this would be a blessing!
This is awesome news. I am definitely going to enter the drawing. I have always heard such awesome things and how much everyone loves the 48 peg loom. Thank you for your review and comparison to the 41 peg KK loom.
I think it is the size I need for my next project.
